Baby Sitting

I am learning to sit all by myself!

I have to admit, it is nice to be "eye to eye" with some of my bigger toys!

I am still learning, so it is a good thing that Mommy keeps this pillow around me.

I'm such a big girl!

Here's a picture of my Big Brother when he was my age...he was really good at sitting all by himself!

Kewpie Doll

Dear Readers,
Ever since I was born, I have had a bunch of hair on the top of my head that prefers to stand up straight, no matter how much my mommy tries to comb it down...my very own
mohawk! One day, my Grandpa said that I looked like a "Kewpie doll". Although mom and dad had no idea what this was, Grandpa assured them that it wasn't a bad thing! The name has sort of stuck, and Grandpa still affectionately calls me "kewpie"! Since then, mom has googled "kewpie doll" and has agreed that I do kind of look like one! What do you think?

Here are some pictures of me...notice my "kewpie" hairstyle!

Gymnastics

Today was Caleb's 2nd day at gymnastics. We are taking the class with our friends Lisa and Coralyn. I wasn't sure what to expect from this class, and am surprised at all of the things that "Coach" has already introduced to the kids. Today, they learned the beginning stages of a cartwheel.

Busy Weekend

This weekend was a busy, but fun, one!

On Friday, we met up with some friends and my mom at the Discovery Center Children's Museum in Rockford. Caleb had a great time exploring and playing with his friends!

Wearing pilot's gear, but driving a car, interesting...

Caleb and Owen playing...

Rob entertaining all the boys...

Meredith was there too....=)

On Saturday, I played in our annual alumni game at Judson. This is a fun tradition that I look forward to each year. It is a great day to see and catch up with friends who I spent many, many, many hours of my college years with! And, while I suppose my performance could have been worse, I definitely feel the need to get in better shape!

Teammates and Friends...

Yesterday (Sunday), we surprised our good friend Becky for her birthday! Unfortunately, I didn't remember to snap any pictures of the birthday girl, but I did get a cute one of Caleb (don't mind the goldfish crackers in his mouth!).

While it was a fun few days, it was busy and tiring. I am looking forward to a week that will hopefully be a little more relaxing!

More Monkeying Around

Monkey Joe's has become one of our favorite places to go this winter (click here for photos from our very first visit, back in September). It is the perfect place for Caleb to run (and jump and climb) around....our little house in wintertime is not very conducive to his level of energy! And, getting out of the house helps keep Mommy sane as well. Thankfully, Caleb is able to work his way through all the jumpy-houses pretty independently, which helps since I have Meredith to keep an eye on as well!

Here are some photos from our latest visit:

such a big boy, climbing all by himself...

he and his buddy jack were chasing each other around for a while...

taking a break from jumping to practice his shot and play some skee-ball...

Another Month....

...has flown by!

I know that I have said this many times before, but the days are seriously going by so fast. While I love watching my kids grow, there is definitely part of me that misses "those days" when they were smaller. How thankful I am to be home with them every day.

When Caleb was a baby (yes, it is true, he is no longer a baby), I remember being so eager for the "next stage", whatever that happened to be at the time. I couldn't wait for him to be ready to eat solid food, ready to move about on his own, ready to talk, etc. With Meredith, though, I feel like those "next stages" are coming all too soon! While I am so thankful that she is healthy and growing and developing, I sometimes wish that she was just days old again.

I am sure that many of you moms out there can relate! And, for those of you who think I am nuts, well, that's okay too. I, admittedly, am a little nuts. Thank you to those of you who love me anyway. =)

Anyway, Meredith is 5 months old today.

She is quite a fun little lady. She loves to play, and loves to watch her big brother play. She very much loves her Daddy and it's true that he can get her laughing more than anyone else can! She loves to suck on her hands, or her toys, or her blankets, or anything else she can grab on to. Oh, and she is quite the trooper, having to put up with a Mommy who loves to put big bows and flowers in her hair.

We have tried rice cereal, apples and carrots with her, but she does not seem to be all that interested in any solid food just yet. Soon enough, I am sure.

That's all for now. I am sure that when her 6 month birthday comes around, I will be blubbering once again about how fast that month passed as well. =)

Just Roll With It

Meredith has a new trick...rolling from her back to her belly! She did this for the first time last week, but this video is from today.

Wiiiii!!!!

The Nintendo Wii is a new addition to the Johnson household. And, it's not just for Dad and Mom. Caleb enjoys playing it as well!

starting off with some help from dad....holding down the botton and releasing it at just the right time is tricky!

playing golf...

and, while waiting for daddy to take his turn, why not use the wii remote as a phone?
