Days of Doctors

These past few days have been full of doctor's appointments.

3/26 - Caleb's 1st Dental Visit...
On Thursday, I took Caleb for his first dentist's visit. Kris happens to know a pediatric dentist, so we thought we'd check him out. I was not sure what to expect from his very first visit, and was a bit nervous. Dr. Kyle asked me a lot of questions, counted Caleb's teeth, and checked and cleaned them! While Caleb was not the biggest fan of laying there with his mouth wide open, he did a great job, and let the doctor do his job! Caleb really liked Dr. Kyle, and I am very thankful for how wonderful he was with Caleb. Caleb was commended for his good brushing skills, and he got a Big Bird sticker and a really cool giraffe to take home with him, as well as the traditional bag with floss, toothpaste, and a new toothbrush!

While Mom and Dad always do the first "round" of brushing, Caleb loves to do his share also!

3/27 - 20 Week Ultrasound...
Friday, I had my "middle-of-the-road" ultrasound...at just under 20 weeks. The ultrasound tech. checked everything from our little girl's bones, to her heart, to her kidneys! So far, everything looks great and she is developing at a healthy and normal pace. Here are some of the photos we got from that appointment. Again, sorry for any blurriness...these are photographs of the printouts!

With this one, it is hard to distinguish facial features, but you can see that she is sucking her left thumb...

3/27 - Unexpected Visit to the Pediatrician...
On Friday morning, Caleb woke up with what looked to me like pink eye. I called the doctor as soon as they opened to describe his symptoms and they wanted to see him as soon as possible. The doctor confirmed that he had a bad case of pink eye, and upon checking his ears, discovered that he had a double ear infection also. My poor little boy...at one point on Friday, he couldn't even open his eye because it was so swollen. Thankfully, the eye drops have seemed to work wonders. Caleb has not seem too affected by all of this. While he has been a bit more whiny than normal, overall, he has been his happy self. He is such a trooper.

I have actually been battling a sinus infection, myself, so...needless to say, we spent the weekend at home, relaxing and trying to get healthy! Here's a photo of what much of our weekend looked like...

3/31 - Mom's Turn to See the Doctor...
I have been "battling" something since last week, and it hasn't seemed to get better. After waking up this morning with no voice, I went to the doctor, mostly hoping to rule out anything contagious. Thankfully, I don't have anything that requires antibiotics or anything like that...."just" an upper respiratory viral infection and sinus infection. Lovely.

3/31 (later in the day) - Regular Trip to the O.B.
Because my visit on Friday was with the ultrasound tech., not my regular doctor, she wanted to see me today. She quickly went over the results of my ultrasound from last week, and assured us that everything, so far, is looking great! She also did a quick ultrasound so we got another quick peek at our little girl. We are so thankful that she is developing at a healthy rate, and are so excited to meet her. We are HALFWAY there!!

T-Ball and Swimming

We spent the last couple of days at Grandma's and Grandpa's house. Sunday, the weather was beautiful, so we took advantage of that and played outside. Grandma and Grandpa bought Caleb a T-ball set, so he had his first "real" attempt at baseball! Monday, we went to the fitness center that my parents belong to to go swimming. Here's a few shots from both fun days!

New Way of Gettin' Around

Grandma and Grandpa McCarty bought Caleb his 1st wagon! We put it together today and took him for his first ride...he absolutely LOVED it. This will definitely be a fun way to get around this summer! And, it has enough room for 2 kiddos - so, Caleb's friends can go for a ride, also!

Already excited to go for a ride, and it's not even finished yet!

Surviving the Winter!

This winter, Caleb and I often took "field trips" to get out of the house a bit. Two of his favorite places to go are the public library and the mall.

At the library, Caleb loves to look at books, do puzzles (which he is getting SO good at!), and play with their blocks. It is fun to be able to give him a change of scenery after being so cooped up in the house!

The mall near our house has two play areas for kids. They are not that big, but as long as there aren't GOBS of other kids there, it is a perfect place for Caleb to get out some energy! He can run, climb, jump and observe. It has been fun to see his progression of learning with the different "activities" they have at the play areas. Caleb also LOVES to watch the fountain in the middle of the mall. He laughs like crazy as the water shoots up! Ah, the simple things in life...

Here are some photos I took recently of him playing at the mall....

More Exciting News!

Not only is Caleb going to have a new sister, he is ALSO going to have his very first COUSIN! That's right...my sister, Kirsten, and her husband, Jon, are expecting their first baby in September! Their little one and our little girl are due to arrive just 1 month apart! We are so excited....now, we just have to get them to move back to the midwest so these kiddos can all grow up together...hint, hint. =)

(Kir was pregnant in this photo, but didn't know it yet!)

Congratulations, Jon and Kirsten!!!

Sugar and Spice...

...and everything nice.
That's what little girls are made of.

Is this true? I guess we'll find out soon enough. Because...

We are having a little GIRL!!!

We had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and everything is looking good, so far. PRAISE GOD. Our DAUGHTER is developing appropriately, and has a strong heartbeat. It was wonderful to see her on the ultrasound again. She was moving around a bit, sucking her LEFT thumb (Kris is hoping for a lefty!), and just appeared content to show us her sweet face. Kris and Caleb were there, and when our doctor asked Caleb if he was excited about his baby sister, he said "yes." I am not sure he truly understood what she was asking him, but it was cute! While I was a bit apprehensive about trusting an ultrasound this early to reveal the sex, our doctor told us that she was 100% sure that we are expecting a baby girl!

Here is an image from yesterday.

For those of you who look at these things and need Cliff Notes, here is my attempt at explaining the picture...

She is curled up in the fetal position (how appropriate). Her head is tucked in, with her chin close to her chest. She has her right hand up by her head, and her left arm is bent, with her left thumb in her mouth! Her knees are bent, and her legs are crossed at the ankles. How ladylike. =)

And, here's a "belly shot" of me from yesterday, so you can see what she looks like from the outside.

We are blessed, and give glory to God for what He has been doing, and will continue to do, in our family.
