We visited a new park in the area this morning....it was so much fun.
Hawk's Hollow is definitely a spot we will frequent this summer. The kids loved it. They got to climb on rocks, play in the water (their favorite part for sure - I am so glad I brought a towel and extra clothes), run around, play wooden instruments, draw with mud (seriously - there were vats of mud for the kids to play with), spend time with butterflies, climb to the top of a silo, see beautiful flowers and explore freely.
We were there for almost 3 hours
(that included eating a picnic lunch we had brought along) and I had to
drag the kids away....we could have stayed longer but alas, the grocery
shopping needed to be done.

Don't mind the crusty boogies under her nose! |

The kids were troopers, climbing all the way up the spiral staircase to the top of this silo. |

Checking out the chrysalises. |
They were a bit hesitant with the water at first. We can go in with our shoes? In our clothes? But once they got over that, they were hooked. They found rocks, played with sticks, ran through the splash pad and climbed through the "stream"...

Using this pulley to transfer pinecones up and down....Meredith and her friend D were a great team. |
