That's a Wrap

Fall sports seasons are officially over, sadly!  While life is crazy in the midst of the seasons, we love it and we are already excited for the next seasons which will start up in the new year.  The boys are giving Flag Football a try, and Meredith will be playing basketball.

Caleb's team lost this morning in their 4th playoff game...by only 1 run, ugh!  SUCH a bummer.  I didn't get to stay more than a half hour, as I had to get Shane to his soccer game, but here are a couple of quick snaps...

I got a bike! It's already been put to good use.  Lots of bike rides with the kids...to Dunkin' Donuts, several parks, and just to explore the 25+ paved trails in our neighborhood.  We splurged a bit to get a good bicycle, and I am hopeful that it will last for many many years!

 Leaves are changing!

After a huge storm this summer wiped out most of our lemon tree (the branches with all the not-yet-ripened lemons!), we've finally got some new fruit!

She got to bring home her class pet, George, again. :)

At the park, waiting for the Big Kids to get out of school.  Every Wednesday is early release for the kiddos and many families meet at the park to play and hang out.

Norah drew Mrs. Beth, who she (and all of us) miss dearly.

Apparently "Baseball Player" is a preferred costume for a 5th grade boy. ;)

AZ has the most beautiful sunsets.

I've been missing the Fall colors.  But there is definitely beauty in ever-green leaves of the trees here.

Halloween

Halloween this year was truly unlike any Halloween I've ever experienced.  The weather was incredible.  No bundling necessary, and no need for umbrellas.  Our neighborhood (which is pretty big and has a gazillion kids of all ages) literally came alive as everyone was out and about tonight.  Of course there were the trick-or-treaters.  But there were also neighbors having dinner with other neighbors in the driveways, neighbors hanging out around portable firepits, incredible decorations and an overall intense sense of community.  It was almost overwhelming!  I had been told of how great this 'hood does Halloween, but I had no idea what to expect until now! Halloween as a holiday has never been my favorite, but I can very much appreciate the efforts that so many people here go through to make tonight a fun one for everyone.

We hung out with our neighbors this evening, and the kids had a blast.  I am actually updating the blog after coming home with an exhausted Norah.  Trick-or-treaters outside are still going strong (there's no set time for TOTing here in the "Wild West"!).  Kris and the other kids are still down the street.

I didn't get a ton of pictures, because the kids moved fast.  And it was dark.  But here are a few from the evening.
