Paper Plate Pumpkins

Today we read another fun Fall book, called The Pumpkin Patch parable.

And, our craft for the morning...I realize that our handprint "leaves" look a little like crazy pumpkin hairdos, but oh well...the kids loved getting their hands traced!

Last Day of Soccer

I could go on and on (and on and on) about the crazy amount of things that I learned about myself and my son over the past 6 weeks via Little Kickers soccer class.

But, I'll refrain from the blabbing and just post a few photos instead. =)

Waiting patiently for his turn...

Dribble Drill...

Cute.

Sissy wants in on the action...

Thoughts of Thankfulness

Today I am thankful.

For many things.

But more specifically, today I am feeling extra thankful that I am able to be a stay-at-home mom.

Yes, I have moments when I feel badly that I don't bring in any money. Yes, there are days when I am more than ready for the kids' bedtime. And yes, there are definitely times when I miss teaching. Oh, and I won't lie, there are many times when I wish we had that 2nd income so that I could get those new shoes. Or that extra bedroom.

But honestly, I would not change it for anything.

I am so thankful that I have a husband who values my job as a mom, who doesn't think less of me because I don't work outside the home. A husband who in fact, appreciates, all that I do in our home, and tells me so.

I am thankful that I have a wonderful group of stay-at-home mommy friends who are always up for a playdate so that we don't have to sit at home by ourselves 24/7!

I am thankful that I have a mom and dad who also encourage me in my role, who don't think it's crazy that I am not out there using the education that they helped pay for!

I am thankful for my mom, who is always available to watch the kids, if I need a sanity break!

I am thankful for the opportunity to take care of another mom's child, when she is unable to, something I wouldn't be able to do if I was working.

I am thankful for the 2 sweetest children a mother could ask for (you know, in my biased opinion). I am thankful that I am here every day to play with them, feed them, pray with them, read to them, and see them grow and learn. Talk about payment! It doesn't get more joyful than that.

Most of all, I am thankful for the Lord, who encourages me in so many ways, at so many times, that my job is important.

The Scarecrow and the Spider

We recently read The Scarecrow and the Spider...a cute story about friendship and God's love.

Caleb and Tamara also made their very own scarecrows and spiders to go along with the story. (T's are on the left and C's are on the right.)

(Shape Scarecrow idea from here.)

Acorns

We have been reading this book over the last couple of weeks. Caleb really likes it, and it is a great story of God's design in how an acorn grows into a beautiful oak tree!

To go along with the story today, we did a little acorn craft (another idea inspired by No Time for Flashcards).
